In the landscape
Why should I have water in my landscape?
Water has immense attraction
to all people. There is a fascination in the sound of running water
especially when
it is in gardens.
It brings a calming sense of satisfaction with sounds that can only come
from water. The glimmer
of a fish or the unsurpassed
beauty of a water lilly on a hot summer day can soothe any mind.
For centuries people have
basked in the luxury of fountains and water gardens in their landscape.
They can create
focal points whether they
are located in the home, garden, office, or shopping mall.
Another great attribute water
gardens is that they
are just plain fun!
Water gardens can be any
size or shape. You can place a whiskey barrel on you back porch or
dig up your entire
front yard. Your only
guide is your creativity. Landscape ponds also can be made from pre-fabricated
plastic, poured
concrete, or liners that
can come in complete kits.
Water does have a relaxing
effect associated with nature and the outdoors. Whether it is the
lapping sound of
ocean waves, or the fountain
next to your deck the reasons for considering water in your landscape are
numerous.
We may be unable to recreate
nature through oceans, but constructing water features in our personal
landscape
can sure give us pleasure!
